Graceful Exit from the Organization

It is the earnest desire of any organization that employees grow gracefully with it up to the ripe old age for retirement (when their hair turns to silver or disappears altogether). But that is not the case especially for the last two decades. Certainly there will be occasions when employees have to say good-bye. The reason for separation may be due to retirement, disability and illness, resignation, organization deciding to enforce such an exit due to reasons like non-performance, non-conformity to the norms of discipline, etc.

Whatever may be the reason for such an exit, it will be the sincere wish of the organization that separation is smooth and with grace. They expect that ex-employees will be their ambassadors who radiate nothing but good-will.

Exit interview is one of the endeavors which is a positive step to remove many misunderstandings and clarify points specific to trust, care and dignity and rectify areas like job satisfaction, boss – subordinate relationships, leadership style and quality of work life, etc.

Employees who leave organization must ensure that they give sufficient notice as per the contract of employment for the employer to make arrangement for replacement so that work does not suffer. They should hand over work to the person who takes charge to ensure that work continues without any hindrance. It is also expected of them to fulfill the obligations under the contract as to the payment of notice pay, etc if applicable. In other words, exit should not be in the form of voluntary abandonment to escape the fulfillment of obligations.

Organizations should ensure that matters like handing over work, settling of accounts, etc are completed without undue delay. A farewell function must also be arranged. A person from Human Resource Department must communicate with him/her for 3 months enquiring about his/her welfare and also about the settlements that are of post – relieving stage. (PF, Gratuity, etc)

In respect of retirees due to Super Annuation, post – retirement occupation and management of finances are of paramount importance. Organization must ensure that the retiree does not suffer from lack of direction to do some productive work after retirement. It is also desirable that an in-company man with requisite skills provides advice on management of finances to the retiree. These days many organizations conduct sessions through external experts on subjects like health and finance for retirees, two years before their retirement. Investing their hard – earned money safely and with potential growth is extremely important for a smooth and tension free retirement.

It will be admirable for an organization if major part of their ex-employees look back to their work life in the company with a smile on their face. Then they are truly the ambassadors of the company.

  • Experience level: 3 – 6 years in related filed
  • The candidate should have knowledge on BI/Datawarehouse concepts, should be able to make ETL & Unix Scripts changes independently.
  • The candidate should be able to DB2 SQL queries to TD queries
  • The candidate should be able to meet the planned timelines on a daily basis and would be the SPOC to resolve all the issues on Datastage & Teradata faced in the respective assigned tracks & would be accountable for the overall quality of the work products in the assigned track.
